I decided to explore some more mythology and became a bit intrigued with the djinn. As I was reading, the comparison that angels and djinn may be one in the same was mentioned. So if that is true, the vessel (lamp) that the djinn is imprisoned in can be a vessel for imprisoning angels. It is akin to Solomon's Ring, in which he could control unclean spirits (demons) to help him build the temple.

After the initial sketch I began blocking out lighting in Photoshop. As I had to get this done a bit sooner than I'd have liked, I used 3ds Max to map out the background geometry to paint over in Photoshop. After the grayscale image was done, I added color and did some correcting on another layer.
